Bhubaneswar: A man was found dead inside a pick-up van near Station Bazaar under Laxmisagar Police Station limits in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Krushna Pradhan, a native of Ganjam, who was staying with this family at Champa Pokhari under Laxmisagar PS limits, the police said.
According to reports, Krushna had left home at around 5 am yesterday for a scheduled booking of the vehicle but did not return home. After his mobile number remained not reachable, the family member carried out a frantic search.
Reportedly, the deceased’s younger brother found the body in the pick-up parked near Station Bazaar today and informed the police. On intimation, Laxmisagar police along with a scientific team reached the spot and launched an investigation.
The family members have alleged that Krushna was hacked to death over past rivalry. Besides, it also reported that the battery of the vehicle was found to be stolen, said the police.
On the basis of the complaint, police have registered a murder case and launched a probe in this regard. The body has been seized for post-mortem, the police added.
