Man fined of Rs 26,000 for letting minor boy drive bike helmetless


Angul: A man attracted a hefty fine of Rs 26,000 for allowing a minor boy to ride his motorcycle without a helmet near Jhimiripali Chhhak in Angul district.

According to sources, a joint team of Talcher Regional Transport Office and Pallahara Police were conducting motor vehicle checking near Jhimiripali Chhhak, when they intercepted a 16-year-old boy riding a motorcycle as he was not wearing a helmet. Later, upon asking for documents, they found him to be a minor.

During questioning, the minor boy revealed that the motorcycle belongs to one Anil Kumar Jena of Nua Sidingi village.

The RTO staff and cops then imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 for allowing a minor to drive the motorcycle and another Rs 1,000 fine for helmetless riding.

The challan has been issued in the name of Anil Kumar, the motorcycle owner and seized the vehicle.
