Man attempts suicide by slitting throat at Berhampur rly station

Berhampur: In a shocking incident, a person attempted to commit suicide by slitting his throat at Berhampur Railway Station in Ganjam district today after alighting from a train.

The victim has been identified as Tunguru Behera of Maharaj village in Aska block. Reportedly, the injured man has been admitted to the hospital.

According to sources, Behera, who was working as a daily wage labourer in Surat, arrived in Berhampur by a train today morning. However, minutes after alighting from the train, he took out a blade and slitted his throat.

Some passengers rushed Behera to the nearby hospital in a critical condition, sources said.

Though the exact reason behind Behera’s extreme step of is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the act was a fallout of family dispute.
