Mamita Meher Murder Case: Crime Branch Files Status Report In Orissa High Court

Cuttack: On the investigation in the Bolangir teacher Mamita Meher murder case, the Crime Branch has submitted status report in the Orissa High Court today.

The Crime Branch submitted the status report to the High Court in a sealed envelope in connection with the case filed by deceased Mamita Meher’s father and brother.

Mamita’s father Suchandra Meher had moved to the High Court and filed a petition seeking fast-track trial in the case.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Bikash Parishad has filed an intervener petition in the case and the court has fixed the next date hearing in the matter on January 20, 2022.

Notably, the half-charred body of Mamita Meher, who was missing since October 8, was exhumed from a stadium construction site of Sunshine English Medium School at Mahaling in Kalahandi district on October 19, 2021.

During the investigation, it was ascertained that the president of a school managing committee, Gobinda Sahu, is the prime accused. He was later apprehended and confessed to killed the lady teacher Mamita Meher in his car.
