Malkangiri: Malkangiri Superintendent of Police Rishikesh Khilari has appealed to the Maoists, suffering from COVID-19 or any other diseases, to surrender before the police.
The Malkangiri SP said: “Free treatment will be provided to the ailing red rebels and no cases will be registered against those who surrender”.
The appeal comes after the Malkangiri district police came to know that a number of Maoist cadres in Chhattisgarh have been infected by COVID-19.
About 10 Maoists infected by COVID-19 reportedly died in various camps in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh yesterday. According to Chhattisgarh Police, some Maoists have deserted the camp in fear of COVID transmission.
