Malaysian cargo ship develops technical snag, lands at Chilika’s Rajhans

Puri: A Malaysian cargo ship en-route to Vishakhapatnam landed at Rajhans, near the mouth of Chilika lake, on Wednesday night after losing direction in a storm in the Bay of Bengal.

Sources said the ship carrying cargo from Malaysia had unloaded its shipment in Bangladesh and was on its way to the Vishakhapatnam port to pick up new cargo.

Meanwhile, the ship got caught in a storm in the Bay of Bengal and drifted towards Odisha. However, the machine developed a technical glitch and remained stranded at Rajhans.

Later, the district administration and local police swung into action and sent a technical team to carry out a repair of the stranded ship near Rajhans coast.

The cargo ship will resume its journey after the repair work, sources added.
