Make Police Commemoration Day a grand success: DGP
Cuttack: Director General of Police (DGP) RP Sharma on Monday asked superintendents of police (SPs) and deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) to observe the Police Commemoration Day in a befitting manner and pay utmost care to make it a grand success.
Holding a meeting with the SPs and DCPs through video conferencing from Cuttack, Sharma vividly discussed various plans for the Commemoration Day to be observed across the country on October 21.
During the meeting, decision was taken to take steps to install statues of martyrs in their local schools and colleges and publication of articles, write-up on police martyrs in the national/regional newspapers during the Police Commemoration Day.
The DGP also directed for projection of life stories of martyrs along with their photographs as the role model in the media. “A senior police officer shall visit the family of martyr prior to the Police Commemoration Day to inquire about their wellbeing,” the DGP added.
Debate, essay and quiz competition will be held at the district police headquarters involving school children. Besides, short video clip on police martyrs will be prepared for release in social media/cinema halls.
Short documentary film on police martyrs shall be prepared by the respective forces for telecasting on National / Regional TV channels.
Similarly, cultural programme will be organised with patriotic fervour on October 20 by forces at various places across the state. The state police forces will organise band display at prominent public places on weekends starting from mid-September. Besides, street play on martyrs stories will be organised, sources said.
Moreover, mini marathon will be organised at state and district headquarters on the eve of the Police Commemoration Day.
