Bhubaneswar: In another big step towards showcasing the industrial opportunities in Odisha and attracting more investments, Government has started preparations for ensuing Make in Odisha Conclave-2020. A high-level meeting to this effect was held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy in Lok Seva Bhawan conference hall today wherein Principal Secretary Industry Hemant Sharma outlined the issues for discussion.
Considering different facets of the conclave, the Chief Secretary directed to make different sessions of the conclave more outcome-oriented. All departments were asked to workout definite business models for attracting private sector investment. Tripathy further directed, “the conclave should be organized through collaborative efforts of all the departments and each department has to play an active role in it. All the departments should be at the same pace as the Industry department in the effective organization of the conclave.”
It was proposed to organize the conclave over 5 days beginning from 30th November 2020. Principal Secretary Sri Sharma proposed to have multiple Country and Industry Partners for the conclave and its various sessions. The investor reach-out efforts would be made more structured and effective with past experiences.
Around 16 broad thematic areas were identified for sectoral sessions. The proposed broad sectors included urban development, IT, Apparel & Textiles, down streams, agro & food processing, tourism, travel trade, mining & minerals, metal production, chemical, petrochemical & plastics, infrastructure, healthcare, sports, Bhubaneswar as sports capital, port-based industries, logistics parks, etc.
It was further decided to have Ambassadors’ Meet, Skill Fest, Sector-Specific CEO Roundtables, Hackathons and Academia-Industry interface on sidelines of the conclave.
Principal Secretary Finance Ashok Kumar Meena, Principal Secretary Skill Development & Technical Education and CMD IDCO Sanjay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary Industry Sri H.K. Sharma, MD IPICOL Dr Nitin Bhanudas Jawale along with senior officers from respective departments participated in the deliberation.
