Maj Gen AK Dhingra appointed as head of Armed Forces Special Operations Division


New Delhi: Maj Gen AK Dhingra has been appointed as the first Chief of the Armed Forces Special Operations Division, according to reports.

The Armed Forces Special Operations Division will be the army’s special force during combat. The Ministry of  Defence has entrusted it to Major General Dhingra.

According to defence sources, the army’s parachute regiment, naval marcos and special commandos of the Garuda commando force of the air force will be involved in the special operations division.

The best commandos of the three wings of the armed forces have done commendable work during operations, sources said.

This will be for the first time that the three forces will work under a command and control structure. This is expected to curtain training costs, defence sources said.
