Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate police today arrested, Prakash Tripathy, main accused in the vandalism of Saheed Nagar police station and attack on cops.
Soon after his arrest, Tripathy, the state Vice-President of Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD), has been dismissed from the post as well as from the party, informed BYJD President Amaresh Patri.
Tripathy had attacked police officials inside Saheed Nagar Police Station earlier this month. He will be forwarded to court today, the police said.
On March 6, police had arrested two students of Utkal University for their alleged involvement in the police station vandalism and attack on cops.
Notably, four police personnel including the IIC and an ASI of Saheed Nagar police station were injured after a group of hooligans had attacked them when the cops tried to stop them from attacking three persons, who were detained at the police station in a road accident case on March 3 evening. They also ransacked furniture, CCTV cameras, TV set and flower pots of the police station.
