Maharashtra, Haryana to go to polls on Oct 21, counting on 24


New Delhi: The Election Commission has announced the dates of Assembly election in Maharashtra and Haryana. Both the states will go to polls on October 21.

Both the states will go to polls in a single phase and polling will take place on October 21. The counting of votes will take place on October 24. While the last date of nominations is October 4, last date of scrutiny is October 5.

With the announcement of dates, Model Code of Conduct has come into force and the election process has officially begun in the two states.

The EC might announce the election dates for Jharkhand later although polls are also due in the state. While the term of 288-member Maharashtra assembly ends on November 9, that of the 90-member Haryana assembly expires on November 2.
