Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari tests Covid positive

Mumbai: Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari was on Wednesday admitted to a private hospital in south Mumbai after testing Coronavirus positive, an official said.

Koshyari (80), who was always seen wearing face masks at public events, has been admitted to the Reliance Foundation Hospital, the official said.

Covid-19 cases rose by 40% in Maharashtra (3,659) on Tuesday, as compared to the previous day, mainly due to increased testing on weekdays.

The number of daily hospitalisations in the city had risen to 110 last week, but dropped to 87 on Tuesday. The BMC Covid update said 626 patients are currently in hospital.
