Mahanga Double Murder: One Accused Surrenders Before JMFC Court

Cuttack: One of the accused in the Mahanga double murder case surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court here on Friday.

According to reports, accused Malaya Barik surrendered before the court avoid arrest. So far, eight persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of BJP leader Kulamani Baral and his associate Dibyasingha Baral.

Notably, Kulamani Baral, who was a popular leader and played a key role in exposing corruption in the region, was BJP’s Salepur Mandal in-charge (Prabhari).

On January 2nd (Saturday) at about 7.30 pm, Kulamani was returning home along with his neighbouring associate Dibyasingh in a motorcycle when some miscreants attacked them with sharp-edged weapons near Jankoti in Mahanga of Cuttack

While Kulamani died on the spot, Dibyasingh succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in the wee hours of Sunday.
