Chennai: As part of the World Water Day celebrations, Larsen & Toubro initiated one of the largest projects to restore 105 water bodies across 25 cities in India and one site in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

This huge CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) task of clearing up ponds and tanks, cleaning wells, strengthening embankments is handled by over 5000 L&T employees, making it a remarkable instance of mass employee volunteerism. “Globally, water scarcity is emerging as an extremely serious problem and, as one of the foremost builders of water infrastructure, we have taken the lead to drive home the message that every drop is vital for our survival,” said Mr. S N Subrahmanyan, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, Larsen & Toubro. “It makes me proud that so many of our employees have voluntarily taken up the responsibility to contribute their time and effort to this very socially relevant cause,” he added.
