Low pressure may trigger rain in next 48 hours


Bhubaneswar: North and coastal districts of Odisha may experience heavy rain on August 19 as a low pressure is likely to form over the North Bay of Bengal in the next 48 hours, the Regional Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday.

Cyclonic circulation will form over the Bay of Bengal on August 18 which will subsequently turn into low pressure the followig day.

Costal districts like Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Cuttack, Puri and Khurda experience heavy rain under the impact of the low pressure from August 19, the Met officials said.

Moreover, IMD regional centre also predicted thunderstorm and lightning in some places of Keonjhar, Mayurbhaj, Balasore, Kandhamal, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Cuttack, Nayagarh, Puri and Bhadrak districts between 3.45 pm and 7.45 pm today.
