New Delhi: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has reportedly offered the post of deputy speaker of the Lok Sabha to the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).
BJP MP and spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao on Tuesday met YSRCP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy and reportedly offered the post to one of its 22 MPs.
While no official announcement has been made in this regard and both the parties remained tight-lipped about the development, Jagan is said to have sought time to take a final role.
The Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha is the vice-presiding officer of the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Parliament of India.
Earlier, the BJP ally, Shiv Sena, had demanded the post of deputy speaker in the Lok Sabha amid speculations that the coveted post might be offered to the Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
