Lockdown In Odisha: District Collectors Asked To Provide Cooked Food To Destitute, Homeless
Bhubaneswar: Housing & Urban Development Department has asked the Collectors of all districts to provide hot cooked meals to the destitute and homeless persons during the lockdown in Odisha.
In a letter, Additional Secretary to Govt, Sangramjit Nayak, has directed that due to on-going COVID-19 menace and associated problems throughout the world and the complete lockdown, the destitute and homeless are facing the problem of survival.
The letter said following the declaration of social distancing norm by the state government throughout the state, the urban homeless are facing endless problem for survival and get their food and it is imperative on the part of the Government to look after the people in distress.
Nayak asked the District Collectors to provide hot cooked meal/dry food/packaged food to the urban homeless during both day and night time free of cost.
The funds required for this purpose may be met out of the Red Cross Fund.
