Lockdown Extended By Another Week In Tamil Nadu; Here’s What Allowed & What Not

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government on Saturday extended the full lockdown in the state by another week. It will come into force from tomorrow.

“To control the spread of the pandemic, the ongoing lockdown will be implemented from May 24 for another week without any relaxations,” said Chief Minister M K Stalin.

Here is what allowed and what not:

Shops will remain open today and tomorrow till 9 pm to help public stock up on things. Mobile outlets, through the network of local bodies, will help supply vegetables and fruits in Chennai and across the state, said the government. All malls have been ordered to stay shut.

Pharmacies can remain open during the extended lockdown while distribution of milk, water and newspapers can continue.

The state horticulture department will ensure supply of vegetables and fruits through mobile outlets in the city and elsewhere in association with local bodies, Stalin said, adding only essential departments will function in the state Secretariat and the districts.

Banks, Private offices, said the government, will continue to operate in the work from home mode.

While no e-registration is required for medical travel within districts, e-registration is must for inter-district medical travel, it added.

While no eating out is allowed, there are staggered slots for takeaway restaurant deliveries: from 6 am-10 am; 12 pm-3 pm; 6 pm-9 pm.
