Lifeguards get Jetski boat for saving people from drowning at Puri sea
Puri: In the wake of a number of casualties taking place due to drowning in sea, the Fire Service has deployed a Jetski boat to save life here.
The Jetski boat service started operation from Wednesday and would always be kept ready to save life of tourists while drowning in the sea during bath.
With deployment of the Jetski boat, the number of deaths due drowning in sea would decline, informed Director General of Police, Fire Service Binay Behera.
Attending the launching ceremony of the advanced boat here on Wednesday, Behera said another Jetski would be added to the system very soon.
A Jetski boat is priced at Rs 19 lakh in the market. As the system was launched for the first time in Odisha, tourists have welcomed it.
Notably, the number of casualties during sea bath is rising every year in the tourist-cum-pilgrim city. A total of seven persons have drowned while taking bath in the year in 2017 so far.
The Jetski would keep constant vigil on the tourists on the sea.
