LeT Terrorist Killed in Bandipora of J&K: Indian Army

Srinagar: Security forces killed a terrorist in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday, officials said.

The terrorist, Umar Lone, was killed in Aragam village of Bandipora district in a joint operation of the army, local police and CRPF. He has been active since 2018 and was a Category 1 Let and TRF terrorist.

Addressing the press, Commander 3 Sector, Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Vipul Tyagi said, “We were getting reports of terrorist activities in the Aragam area of ​​Bandipora for some time. We were keeping this area under constant surveillance. On the night of 16-17 June, we received specific intelligence based on which the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF launched a joint operation. During this operation, our ambush party saw some suspicious activity. On believing it, the ambush party opened fire on the terrorist and in this encounter, 1 terrorist Umar Lone was killed. Umar Lone has been an active Category 1 terrorist since 2018 and is currently associated with LeT and TRF”.
