Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force of State Crime Branch today arrested four more persons involved in the leopard skin smuggling racket busted in Deogarh.
The arrested were identified as Kalicharan Das (56), Bhaskar alias Bhagirathi Naik (40), and Pandita alias Pitambar Khatei (40) of Keonjhar and Netra alias Netrananda Kissan (22) of Sundergarh.
Earlier the STF had arrested three persons involved in the leopard skin smuggling racket. With this, a total of seven persons have been arrested in the case.
According to police, accused Bhaskar and Pandita had arranged the leopard skin and given it to Kalicharan who gave it to the previous arrested accused persons. Besides, accused Netra was working as the middleman in the wildlife smuggling racket.
The arrested persons will be forwarded to the court of Deogarh SDJM tomorrow. Meanwhile, efforts are on to nab other persons involved in the racket
Notably, the STF had busted the leopard hide smuggling racket in Barkote area of Deogarh district and arrested three persons on June 21.
