Leaders pay last respects to Sheila Dikshit in Delhi


New Delhi: Leaders of various political parties on Sunday paid respects to former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit at her home in south Delhi.

The three-time Delhi Chief Minister died of cardiac arrest on Saturday. She was 81.

According to reports, her body will be taken to the Congress headquarters before the last rites at 2.30 pm at Nigam Bodh Ghat situated on the banks of the Yamuna.

Veteran BJP leaders like Sushma Swaraj and LK Advani, and National Conference’s Omar Abdullah,were among the leaders who paid their respects to the departed leader.

Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia tweeted the Delhi government has declared a two-day state mourning for Sheila Dikshit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal have tweeted their condolences.

Modi tweeted: “Blessed with a warm and affable personality, she made a noteworthy contribution to Delhi’s development. Condolences to her family and supporters. Om Shanti”.
