New Delhi: Wishes are pouring in for legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar who turned 91 today. Known as the nightingale of India, Mangeshkar recorded her first song at the age of 13.
Born in a family of performers, Mangeshkar took her first lesson from her father Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar, who was a classical singer and theatre actor.
Taking to social media, many fans and followers wished the singer on her birthday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted out his wishes for the playback singer, who has sung songs in over thirty-six regional Indian and foreign languages.

With a career spanning over 7 decades in the music industry, Mangeshkar has recorded more than 25000 songs.
Her last recorded song was in 2015, in an Indo-Pak gay love story. For 73 years, and even longer, she has regaled music listeners with her mellifluous voice and in total domination as Bollywood’s leading singer.
Lata Mangeshkar has been awarded with many honours like Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Award for her invaluable contribution in the field of singing.
