Lakshya Sen has advanced to the quarter-finals of the men’s singles event by defeating HS Prannoy in straight games at the Paris Games.
Competing at Court 3 of La Chapelle Arena, Lakshya secured a commanding victory over Prannoy with scores of 21-12, 21-6 in just 39 minutes, marking a successful progression to the next stage in his first Games appearance.
Prannoy elimination in the Round of 16 could possibly be his only Olympic showing.
In the quarter-finals, Lakshya will compete against Chou Tien Chen from Chinese Taipei. Having met the 34-year-old veteran on four occasions, Lakshya holds a 1-3 record against him. Their most recent encounter was at the Singapore Open 2023, where Lakshya lost to Chou in a closely contested three-game match.
