Lady IIC transferred for misbehaving with shopkeeper in Bhadrak


Bhadrak: A lady Inspector In-Charge(IIC) of Puruna Bazar police station was transferred on charges of misbehaving with a shopkeeper and executing lathi charge on a mob in Puruna Bazaar area here last night.

As per reports, Puruna Bazaar police station IIC Pragyan Mohanty has been transferred to district police headquarters while Nayakanadihi IIC, Ratikanta Giri, has been posted as the new IIC in place of Mohanty.

According to sources, Mohanty entered a local cloth store and misbehaved with the owner of the shop over some misunderstanding related to shopping items. In a fit of rage, the IIC reportedly threw several items out of the shop and also manhandled the owner.

Sources said at least two persons were injured during the incident.

The incident created resentment among other shopkeepers and locals. Later, they staged a protest and obstructed a police vehicle.

On intimation, IG Eastern Range Diptesh Patnaik and Bhadrak SP rushed to the spot to assess the situation. Taking note of the report, the IIC was transferred.
