Nuapada: A woman owner of a roadside eatery (Dhaba) was allegedly shot dead by miscreants at Duajhara under Khariar block in Nuapada.
The deceased was identified as Basanti Meher.
As per available information, an argument ensued among Basanti and miscreants who were in an inebriated condition over-serving of food.
Reportedly, the miscreants asked her to serve food and she refused due to the unavailability of any such items.
However, the situation turned ugly when one of the miscreants opened fire at her from a country pistol.
Though Meher was immediately rushed to a local hospital, she succumbed to critical bullet injuries while undergoing treatment.
On the other hand, the assailants fled the spot soon after committing the crime.
On being informed, police launched an investigation after visiting the spot.
