KVIC Odisha Distributes 100 Beehives, Toolkits To Akhupadar Women SHG In Nayagarh

Akhupadar: To support rural economy, Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Odisha state office today distributed 100 beehives with bee colonies, iron stands and toolkits under Gramodyog Vikash Yojana to 10 members of a women SHG of Akhupadar village under Ranapur block in Nayagarh.

KVIC Odisha distributed 100 beehives and toolkits to 10 members of a women SHG viz. Annapurna Maa Mangala SHG of Village Akhupadar, Balabhadra Pur Gram Panchayat, Ranapur block in Nayagarh District, in collaboration with DRDA, Nayagarh, who had identified the beneficiaries. Earlier, KVIC had given 5 days long beekeeping beginners training to the beneficiaries.

The surrounding of the village is filled with natural forest resources conducive for beekeeping. The villagers with the help of these beehives and colonies will be able to earn a sustainable income by selling honey and bee colonies.

During the distribution program Samir Kumar Mohanty, State Director KVIC; Bichitrananda Panda, Assistant Director, KVIC;  Sanjiv Mohapatra, District Project Manager, OLM; Alok Pradhan, Master Beekeeping Trainer were present.

Director KVIC advised the beneficiaries to focus more on the expansion of beekeeping in the area by dividing the bee colonies. He also advised the beneficiaries to plant more moringa trees in their village.
