Puri: An Assistant Sub-Inspector of police posted at Krushnaprasad police station in Puri district was arrested on the charges of demanding and accepting a bribe. He was also suspended.
The accused has been identified as Iswarchandra Guman Singh.
According to reports, the ASI demanded Rs 7,000 bribe from a food vendor. Based on a complaint lodged by the vendor, sleuths laid a trap and caught Iswarchandra.
Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh had ordered the SDPO to probe into the bribe allegation against the ASI.
On the other hand, Puri Sadar Sub-Inspector, identified as Atasi Jena, was suspended. Reportedly the SI, who conducted a raid on a gambling den in September 2020, did not inform the IIC about the money seized from the spot.
Following this, a probe was ordered and later Atasi Jena was suspended.
