Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has decided to convert KIIT School of Biotechnology into a Centre of Excellence.
The Science and Technology Department has sanctioned Rs 2 crore for the project. Besides the Centre of Excellence, the government is also prioritizing the development of incubation Centre.
The government will focus on the research and infrastructure development at the Centre of Excellence.
Science and Technology Minister Ashok Panda said that the government had earlier sanctioned Rs 2 crore to the Institute of Life Science (ILS) for a centre for Incubation, training and start-up development.
The government has always been emphasizing the research on biotechnology, Panda said. The government has provided required lands to Bharat Bio-Tech at Andharua for manufacturing of vaccines.
