Kendrapara to be under CCTV scanner to monitor criminals


Kendrapara: To keep a close watch on criminals and their activities, the Kendrapara district police have decided to put the town and its surrounding areas under CCTV surveillance.

This apart, a control room will also be set up near Old Motor Cycle Stand to monitor the cameras 24×7.

Kendrapara SP Niti Sekhar said as many as 36 cameras will be installed at 12 strategic locations including Tinimuhani, Bus Stand, Kakat Chhak, Bala Baba Chhal, Bada Haat and other spots which are the main entry and exit points of the town.

The CCTV cameras will be installed in Kendrapara town in the first phase and will be expanded to Pattamundai later. The cameras will be installed before Gajalaxmi Puja, said sources.

These cameras will help the police to monitor the anti-social elements and keep a watch on criminal activities in the town. Besides, the cameras will help the police in identifying youths and drunkards flouting traffic norms.

Besides, the police have decided to set up more than one camera in sensitive locations of Kendrapara.
