Kazakhstan returnee deliberately skips screening, quarantined after being traced

New Delhi: A Kazakhstan returnee who deliberately skipped screening at Delhi airport was traced with the help of CCTV footage and put on quarantine.

The 72-year-old man was traced to Ghaziabad and sent to home quarantine for 14 days.

Reports said Harjeet Singh, a resident of Delhi’s Dilshad Garden, had returned from Almaty in Kazakhstan on Saturday on flight number AI 1916.

Police said immediately after deplaning , Singh went missing from the entry gate at Terminal-3 of the Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Sunday.

A staff of Yamuna Vihar sub-divisional magistrate’s (SDM) office informed the police on the matter. A case was registered against the 72-year-old man under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Epidemic Act, police said.
