Bengaluru: Massive protests broke out in Karnataka and educational institutions closed after Congress leader DK Shivakumar was arrested by ED in New Delhi.
Shivakumar was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in an alleged money laundering case. According to reports, incidents of blocking roads and burning tyres were reported in Ramanagara, Chennapattana and other neighbouring towns of Karnataka.
Shivakumar is an MLA from Kanakapura assembly constituency which falls under Ramanagara district.
Hundreds of protestors blocked the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway. Police have stepped up security across bus terminals, railway stations and important landmarks in Bengaluru to prevent violence in the city.
