Karan Johar Announces Film On Jallianwala Bagh Massacre


Mumbai: Filmmaker Karan Johar has announced to produce a biopic on C. Sankaran Nair, who fought against the British Raj to uncover the truth about the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

Johar took to Twitter to share the news, writing, “Extremely excited and honoured to be bringing the untold story of C. Sankaran Nair, a historic man to the big screens. Directed by @karanstyagi.”

The note shared by the filmmaker reads, the film will unravel the legendary courtroom battle that Sankaran Nair fought against the British Raj to “uncover the truth about the Jalianwala Bagh Massacre.” It went on to add that Nair’s bravery ignited the freedom struggle across the country and is a testament to the “power of fighting for the truth.”

As Per Johar’s tweet, the film, titled, The Untold Story of C Sankaran Nair is inspired by real-life events and adapted from the book The Case That Shoot The Empire, written by Raghu Palat and his wife Pushpa Palat. Raghu Palat is the great-grandson of Sankaran Nair. The film will go on floors shortly and the lead cast will be announced soon.
