Kandhamal labour officer lands in Vigilance net for bribery


Phulbani: Vigilance sleuths have arrested Kandhamal District Labour Officer on Thursday for taking a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a labourers’ leader.

The accused officer has been identified as Ranjan Behera. He was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe on the premises of the District Labour Office at Phulbani.

According to sources, the accused officer had demanded the bribe from a labourers’ leader, who had applied for the compensation Rs 1 lakh on behalf of four victim families, to release the compensation amount.

In this connection, Vigilance police registered a case against the accused and forwarded to the court.
