Justice Pradip Mohanty appointed as Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court


Cuttack: Justice Pradip Kumar Mohanty was appointed as the acting Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court on Friday, even as seven new additional judges were appointed to the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

Justice Mohanty will assume charges today (on Saturday) as incumbent Justice Virendra Singh retired on Friday as the chief justice.

A gazette notification has been issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan in this regard. He has served as acting Chief Justice of Odisha high Court five times.

Born on June 10, 1955 in Cuttack, Mohanty passed matriculation from Ravenshaw Collegiate School and completed his graduation in 1974 from Ravenshaw College. He completed his LLB from Madhusudhan Law College in Cuttack. He is the son of Justice Jugal Kishore Mohanty, who has served as Chief Justice in Sikkim.
