Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance Special Judge in Berhampur today convicted a Junior Clerk and his spouse in a disproportionate assets case in Ganjam district.
N. Prakash Patra, Ex-Jr. Clerk, UGPHC, Patrapur, and his wife Smt. N. Santosini Patra, were charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case vide Spl. Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur TR No.29/2013 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e)PC Act,1988/109 IPC for possession of disproportionate assets to their known sources of income.
Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur today convicted the couple and sentenced N. Prakash Patra to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and pay a fine of Rs.10,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months more for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) PC Act, 1988.
The Court also sentenced Smt. N. Santosini Patra to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and payment of fine of Rs.10,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months more for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) PC Act,1988/109 IPC.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the dismissal of N. Prakash Patra, presently serving as Jr. Clerk in Sub-Divisional Hospital of Patrapur in Ganjam district following his conviction.
