Junior clerk held for taking bribe in Gajapati


Gajapati: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday caught a junior clerk of Mohana Block Education Office (BEO) in Gajapati district red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 3000 from a teacher.

The accused officer has been identified as Jitendra Nath Nayak.

According to sources, Nayak had demanded Rs 3000 from one Dandapani Mallick, a teacher of an Upper primary school in Paramanag village, for transfer.

Based on the allegation against the officer, Berhampur vigilance DSP H Kulu along with Inspector RK Nayak and Renubala apprehended the officer last evening while he was accepting the gratification.

Later, simultaneous raids were conducted on his house and office. Several documents were verified and seized, sources added,
