Kalahandi: In a major development to the Junagarh gang-rape case, the survivor has claimed that driver Lalitendra Sabar, the person who provided her lift, is the prime accused and mastermind behind the crime.
Expressing her discontentment, the victim, a nursing student, questioned the actions that are being taken by police. She also raised questions as to why the cops have not arrested the “mastermind” Sabal so far.
As per the victim’s latest statement to media persons, she was waiting for her bus after consulting a doctor on September 14, when the Sabar offered her a lift to Junagarh on his bike. On their way, Sabar received several phone calls and talked to someone in a suspicious manner.
She also levelled allegations that after the six youth came out of nowhere and forcibly took her to the forest, and Sabar was the one to rape her first before the six others took turns to do the same.
Disappointed over the police action, the survivor demanded death penalty for the accused persons. Besides, she also threatened to commit suicide if Sabar is freed from the case.
It is pertinent here to mention that, driver Lalitendra Sabar is termed as an eye-witness in the police investigation.
Earlier on Wednesday, police arrested six accused in the gang-rape of the nursing student. Three others were arrested for making a video of the incident viral on social media.
Notably, the girl was allegedly gang-raped at Jaring forest near NH-26 under Junagarh police limits. The matter came to light after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
As per an FIR lodged by the victim, an AMN student, with Junagarh police, she was returning home from Bhawanipatna on a two-wheeler with Sabar on September 14 around 2 pm when 5-6 armed miscreants intercepted the vehicle on the NH. They forcibly took her to the forest where they raped her at knifepoint, she alleged.
