Journos create ruckus over alleged bribe ahead of Gadkari’s visit for ground breaking ceremony of 4-lane NH in Angul
Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, invited journos were bribed with Rs 500 notes in media kits at a meeting ahead of Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari’s visit to the venue place in Angul district.
The Journos created ruckus at the meeting place ahead of Gadkari’s visit over the alleged bribe found in media kits. They alleged that Rs 500 currency note was found in every media kit distributed to them at the venue. The Journalists waving the Rs 500 notes were captured on cameras and the issue is making rounds in the state.
The matter came to light after mediapersons were provided media kits ahead of Gadkari’s visit for ground breaking ceremony of widening the NH from three to four lanes at Dussehra ground in Angul following which the journalists were shocked finding Rs 500 notes in their kits.
However, the local BJP leaders are playing a blame game by claiming NHAI authorities responsible for the ill-concept.
Refuting the allegations, NHAI’s PRO Siben Singh said he is innocent and he was ignorant of the Rs 500 notes inside media kits. Siben claimed that he distributed the kits as he was asked to do so. Siben has been detained by the police for allegedly involved in the bribery.
Notably, Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone for the much awaited second bridge on river Brahmani at Balughat ground in Rourkela earlier today. Among those present on the occasion were Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Rourkela MLA Dilip Ray.
The new bridge will provide hassle-free communication between Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh and Biramitrapur.
