Bhubaneswar: In a twin-eviction drive carried out by the Central Eviction Monitoring Committee (CEMC), unauthorised encroachments were removed from a road in Saheed Nagar and near the City Bus Terminal at Bhubaneswar Railway station.
Under Saheed Nagar eviction programme from Plot No. 469 (land type road) in compliance with an order of the honourable High Court with order passed in WPC No. 16048/2018 filed by Srikant Kumar Dash and others-Vrs-Govt. of Odisha and others enforcement team consisting officers and staff of BDA, BMC, Commissionerate Police and Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) proceeded to the spot around 10.30 am and carried out the process.
The requisition for the removal of encroachment was made by Deputy Commissioner (South East Zone), BMC on June 21. During the eviction drive 13, no of iron/wooden cabins, 11 no of tiffin stalls, 7 bamboo polythene sheds, 8 hoardings, 2 extensions of fast-food stalls were demolished and one temple was also partly demolished. Another temple in the area, Baba Akhandalamani Mandir Committee has given an undertaking to demolished the structure by itself within three days. One excavator from BDA was engaged during eviction the drive.
In the second eviction of the day unauthorised `Dhaba’ “Rangila” and a cycle stand over the Government land bearing Plot No. 955 and 1489 adjacent to City Bus Terminal at Master Canteen in Mouza- Ashok Nagar under Capital Police Station was demolished.
The staff and enforcement team of BDA, CRUT and Commissionerate Police proceeded to the spot around 1.30 pm. The requisition was made by the GA Department on June 6. One excavator from BDA was engaged during the eviction drive.
During the drives of the day ACP Anil Kumar Mishra along with police officers from Saheed Nagar P.S, Enforcement Sqd. No. 1,2 & 4 (BDA), BSCL and South East Zone Squad of BMC, enforcement officer II of BDA Pramod Kumar Patro, Liaisoning Officer Subhranshu Sekhar Mohanty and IIC Capital Police Station SC Chakrabarti were present.
Two platoons of APR Force and one section of lady police were present at the sites to maintain law and order during the eviction drive.
