JNU sedition case: Delhi govt granted time to decide on Kanhaiya’s prosecution

New Delhi: A Delhi court has granted government till July 23 for deciding on grant of sanction to prosecute former JNU student union president Kanhaiya Kumar.

Kumar and others were involved in the JNU sedition case.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Deepak Sherawat has granted specific time to the Delhi government as it had earlier sought more time to file sanctions for prosecuting the former JNU president  and others.

It is worthwhile to mention that on January 14 this year, the police had filed a charge sheet in the court against Kumar which said that he was leading a procession in the JNU campus.

The charge sheet also alleged that Kumar had supported seditious slogans raised on the JNU campus during an event on February 9, 2016.
