Jio Starts Charging For Voice Calls To Other Networks From Today

New Delhi: Reliance Jio on Wednesday announced that it will start charging its customers 6 per minute for voice calls made to made to rival phone networks.

As per reports, Jio is doing this to recover the 6 paise/minute IUC (Interconnect Usage Charge) that the company pays other telcos to use their network during calls.

Since voice calls on Jio network are free, the company had to bear the Rs 13,500 crore payment made to rivals such as Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea. To recover the losses created by the TRAI move, the company has decided to charge customers 6 paise per minute for every call they make to a rival’s network, informed sources.
