Jharsuguda: Two Held For ‘Murdering’ Scrap Collector Over Heated Arguement

Jharsuguda: Police on Friday arrested two accused persons on charges of murdering a scrap collector and burying his dead body under a heap of coal dust inside a factory in Jharsuguda.

The accused persons have been identified as Pradip Makar (20), and Srikant Ping (22), both of Durlaga village. Besides, the police have also recovered a piece of stone, the weapon of offence, from Durlaga pond with the assistance of Fire brigade personnel.

According to reports, police recovered the dead body of Asraf Sekh of East Bardhaman (WB) buried under a heap of coal dust on the 19th of October, 2022.

Police said the deceased, who was working as a scrap collector by moving from place to place, went missing on the 7th of October, 2022 and a missing complaint was lodged on the 11th of October.

After the recovery of Asraf’s dead body, the deceased’s uncle, Lalu Sekh, identified the body and a murder case was registered on his report, the police said.

During the investigation, different angles were analysed and finally two involved accused were arrested and forwarded to court today in Jharsuguda PS case no-605 u/s 302/201 IPC.

Jharsuguda SDPO Nirmal Mahapatra informed that the murder took place due to an exchange of words and an argument between the accused persons and the deceased on 7th October following which the accused had concealed the dead body under the coal dust heap.
