Jharkhand Elephants Wreak Havoc In Mayurbhanj Village

Mayurbhanj: A herd of elephants, that ventured into Mahisasuli village under Karanjia forest range in Mayurbhanj district wreaked havoc in the locality.

According to sources, the herd of 22 jumbos entered the human habitations from the nearby forest last night from a forest in Jharkhand.

The herd went on a rampage and have damaged houses and ate away the paddy from the fields causing a huge loss to the locals.

On being informed, forest department officials rushed to the village and launched an operation to drive away from the jumbos into the wild.

While the movement of elephants is being constantly monitored, necessary steps to deal with the elephant menace are underway, the forest officials said.
