Jajpur: In a recent development into the alleged abduction and rape of a minor girl in Jajpur, police today arrested four persons including a police constable of Dharmasala police station and produced them before a local court.
With this, the total number of arrests rose to eight. Earlier, police had arrested the main accused Pintu alias Satya Naryan Samal (28) his brother Rudra Narayan Samal (26) and sisters Banita Pradhan(24) and Kabita Sahoo(23) in this connection.
Today, the police arrested the main accused Pintu’s brother-in-law Santosh Barik, constable of Dharmasala PS, aunt (mother’s sister) Puspanjali Behura of Sukinda, cousin Mohan Mohanty of Neulapur and an aide Abdul Rahman.
As per reports, accused Puspanjali has been arrested for hiding the minor girl at her house. The sisters of the accused were also arrested for providing shelter to their brothers and the rape survivor in their houses.
Notably, the 16-year-old girl was kidnapped at gunpoint near Chandbali while she was returning to her village art around 3 pm on January 14. The victim’s father, in his complaint, had stated that the accused had threatened of dire consequences if the matter is reported to the police.
Following this, the cops registered a missing complaint. The minor was taken to three different places for three days where the culprits outraged her modesty repeatedly by giving her spiked drinks and food.
On January 18, the culprits dumped the minor in an unconscious state near Barabati village at around 4 pm and called her family members to pick her up from the spot. Following a probe, the police arrested the accused duo and their sisters after four days.
