Jajpur: Dist admin declares shutdown of schools fearing tusker attack


Jajpur: Jajpur district administration declared shutdown of educational institutions of two areas of the district fearing elephant attacks.

As per reports, an elephant has been continuously wreaking havoc in Korei and Vyasnagar area. Keeping in view the safety of the locals, the district administration has declared a holiday for primary schools and high schools in the areas.

Jajpur Collector Ranjan Kumar Das declared all schools in the area closed till the forest officials manage to drive the tusker away.

Reportedly, the jumbo ventured to the human habitation from Pachikota jungle in an injured state. Besides. the tusker trampled at least two persons to death and left two others including a forest official critical in Godipatna village under Panikoili police limits.

The deceased were identified as Chintamani Ram and Ishwar Das of the same locality.
