Italian Super Cup: Ronaldo seals the cup with 1-0 win over AC Milan
Jeddah: Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal secured the Italian Super Cup for Juventus with a 1-0 win over 10-man AC Milan in the finals on Wednesday in Saudi Arabia.
AC Milan played the last quarter of an hour a man down after Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie recieved the red card. The Portugal football star slammed the goal with a second-half header helping Juventus bag the trophy for the first time since 2015.
It was also Ronaldo’s first tournament win since he swapped Real Madrid for Turin last summer. Juventus has now won the title a record eight times, while AC Milan has won seven.
Besides the victory, the match also grabbed eyeballs with the controversy regarding human rights issues in Saudi Arabia, which was that women were only allowed to attend the game if they were accompanied by a man.
According to media reports, around 15,000 women were present among the 61,000 audiences in the stadium.
