ISSF World Cup: Saurabh Chaudhary wins gold in 10m Air Pistol event


New Delhi: Shooter Saurabh Chaudhary clinched gold medal in men’s 10m Air Pistol event at the ongoing ISSF World Cup 2019 in New Delhi on Sunday.

With this, India bagged its second medal after Apurvi Chandela’s gold in Women 10m Air Pistol event on Saturday.

The 16-year-old defeated Serbia’s Damir Mikec to claim the gold with a world record score of 245. He also secured himself for an Olympic quota for Tokyo 2020.

Qualification topper Manu Bhaker, however, finished fifth in the women’s 25m pistol.

Saurabh, who started confidently finished on the top with Serbian Mikec at the end of the first series.

In the second series, the champion shooter finished at the top while Abhishek Verma and Ravinder Singh failed to qualify for the final.

On the other hand, the Commonwealth Games and Youth Olympics gold medalist Manu ended the event with a total score of 22. However, she finished fifth in the women’s 25m pistol.
