Rio de Janeiro: Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary staged a remarkable comeback to claim the mixed 10m air pistol gold at the ISSF World Cup in Rio de Janeiro.
With this, India finished the ISSF World Cup at the top of the medals tally with five gold, two silver, and two bronze.
In the air pistol final, the pair of Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary prevailed over Yashaswini Singh Deswal and Abhishek Verma 17-15 in a nerve-wracking contest.
World number one in women’s 10m air rifle, Apurvi Chandela, had earlier partnered Deepak Kumar to win India their fourth gold on the concluding day of the event. The pair won the top medal in the mixed air rifle event.
Similarly, Moudgil and Divyansh Singh Panwar, who won the previous two World Cup editions of the same event, won bronze.
Abhishek Verma helped India sweep Men’s 10m Air Pistol gold, winning the competition with a score of 244.2 in the finals. Whereas two-time Olympian Sanjeev Rajput won silver and Tokyo 2020 quota place in Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions.
