Dubai: Mumbai Indians defeated Punjab Kings by 6 wickets in their Indian Premier League match on Tuesday. Mumbai lost the early wickets of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Quinton de Kock but their ship was steadied by Sourav Tiwary, Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard.

Power batting from Hardik Pandya (40*), and Saurabh Tiwary (45) guided Mumbai Indians (MI) to chase down the target of 136 runs. Quinton de Kock also contributed with his 27 runs and in the end, Kieron Pollard (15) played a brilliant cameo with Hardik in a 45-run stand.

Batting first, Punjab Kings ended their innings at 135/6 after MI bowlers bowled exceptionally to restrict them. Punjab’s top order batting problems continued as they lost KL Rahul, Manpreet and Gayle in quick fashion. Markram was the only one to hold for but he could only that much. Pollard bowled one over and took 2 wickets while Jasprit Bumrah also took 2.

With this win, Mumbai have jumped to the fifth spot in the points table with 10 points while Punjab Kings are the sixth position.

Brief scores:

Punjab Kings: Aiden Markram (42), Deepak Hooda (21); Ravi Bishnoi 2/25

Mumbai Indians: Saurabh Tiwary (48), Hardik Pandya (40); Kieron Pollard 2/8, Jasprit Bumrah 2/24
